What are LED Light eligibility criteria?

he Home Energy Efficiency Retrofits (HEER) method may be used to calculate energy savings from a range of household and small business energy efficiency upgrades. In this method, the term ‘energy’ may refer to electricity, gas or both. The method requires a minimum customer co-payment of $30 (excl GST) which cannot be reimbursed.

Home Energy Efficiency Retrofit (HEER) helps NSW households and small businesses using <270kWh of electricity per day save energy by supporting a range of energy efficiency upgrades, including lighting upgrades.

What’s available?

The NSW Government Energy Savings Scheme cuts electricity and gas use by creating financial incentives for households and businesses, including incentives for eligible households to replace old lights with new LED lights.

How will to LED's help my household?

Switching to LEDs will help you reduce your energy consumption. This means you can expect to see long-term cost savings on your bills.

For example, if you change 20 halogen downlights to LED downlights, you can save up to $210 a year on energy costs.

Other benefits include reduced maintenance, because LEDs last longer than other lights. They will also lower your environmental impact.

Accessing the LED light upgrade incentive

When you contact or been contacted by ESS supplier, they will assess your lighting needs and present a summary.

The supplier will assess your lighting needs either by phone, or by visiting your home.

You will need to make a minimum payment for the lighting upgrade. For households, the minimum is $30 + GST. You may be required to pay more, depending on the design of your home and the services the supplier provides.

Get the LED Light upgrade

Your supplier will send a licensed electrician to install the new lights.

Old light globes, or any other equipment that is removed or replaced, must be recycled or disposed of by the supplier. This is to ensure that old, inefficient equipment is not used anywhere else.
